WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions may hamper your use or enjoyment of the SquatchBox Rooftop Tent (the “Tent”) and may result in injury or death. Please read and follow all instructions carefully before installing and using the Tent.
Safety Information
Before using the Tent, please ensure that:
• You install the roof bars from reputable manufacturers and follow their instructions and recommendations for installation.
• You install the roof bars according to SquatchBox's instructions and recommendations and ensure that the roof bars can support the weight of the tent and its occupants.
• You adhere to the speed limit while driving with the Tent affixed to your vehicle. Do not exceed the speed limit or drive recklessly.
• You regularly check the Tent and its components for any signs of damage or wear and tear. Replace any damaged or worn parts immediately. If you see any damaged or worn parts, cease use of the Tent Immediately.
• You give consideration to the height of your vehicle and the height of the Tent and avoid driving under low clearance areas such as bridges, tree branches and parking garages.
• You follow SquatchBox’s instructions for the installation and use of the ladder to access and exit the Tent.
By following these safety guidelines and using the Tent responsibly, you can enjoy a safe and memorable camping experience.
Safety Instructions:

Before installing the Tent, ensure that your vehicle’s roof rack can support the weight of the Tent and that the Tent is installed according to SquatchBox’s instructions.

Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity of the Tent, which is 650 lbs, as indicated in the product manual.

Secure the Tent to your vehicle’s roof rack using the provided straps and clamps. Ensure that the Tent is centered and balanced on your vehicle’s roof rack before securing the Tent.

Never leave children, pets or objects unattended in the Tent.

Use the ladder provided with the Tent and ensure that the ladder is securely fastened to your vehicle before using the Tent.

Do not use the Tent during extreme weather conditions, such as heavy precipitation, strong winds or snowstorms. Follow the instructions for opening and closing the Tent.

Do not stretch, bend or use the Tent beyond its dimensions, as this may damage the Tent and compromise your safety.

Keep all open flames away from the Tent, as the Tent is made of flammable material.
Fitting Instructions:

Open the Tent by unlocking its latches and pushing the tent upwards.

Unfold the ladder and hook it onto the Tent’s ladder hooks.

Adjust the ladder’s height to ensure that it is firmly attached and comfortable and safe for use.

Secure the Tent to your vehicle’s roof rack using the provided mounts and brackets. Ensure that the Tent is centered and balanced on the roof rack before you secure the Tent.

Adjust the brackets, nuts and bolts as necessary to ensure that the Tent is tightly secured and stable.

Once the Tent is secure and fastened to your vehicle’s roof rack, climb up the ladder and enter the Tent through the Tent’s door.

Close the Tent’s door by pulling the Tent’s zippers.

When you are packing up the Tent, ensure that the Tent is dry before you fold up the Tent and store it in the provided shell case.

User Guide:

To open the Tent, unlock the latches of the Tent and push the Tent upwards until it is fully opened.

Installation Manual:
The order that you assemble the Tent is flexible. While some may prefer to attach the ladder first, others may prefer to construct the Tent frame before any accessories are attached. Please keep in mind that that accessory rail is shared by all of the component parts of the Tent, so you may need to adjust the position of the accessory rail as you assemble each component.
1. Unboxing The Roof Top Tent
Before unboxing the Tent, ensure that you have enough space for the construction of the Tent. The Tent is heavy and may be difficult to move on your own.
- Once you have identified a safe and spacious area, carefully remove the Tent from its packaging.
- Check that all of the components of the Tent are present. This should include:
• Tent fabric;
• Tent frame
• Poles;
• Screws;
• Cross bar mount;
• Brackets;
• Bolts;
• Ladder;
• Straps; and
• Clamps.
- Inspect each component for any damage or defects. If you notice any issues with any of the components, please contact our customer support team immediately at support@squatchbox.ca
Note: It is recommended that you assemble the Tent close to your vehicle to make installing the Tent easier.
WARNING: Assemble the Tent on a flat and stable surface to prevent any accidents or injuries.
2. Assembling The Roof Top Tent
- Lay out the tent fabric and poles in the orientation as shown in the product manual.
- Follow the step-by-step instructions provided with the Tent to assemble the tent frame and attach the tent fabric.
3. Attaching The Hardware:
3a. Closing The Buckle:
WARNING: The closing buckle is an important safety feature of the Tent. Ensure that it is properly secured and affixed before using the Tent.
- Attach the closing buckle to the corresponding loop on the tent fabric. Ensure that the closing buckle is securely affixed.
- To open the buckle, simply lift the lever and pull the strap.
3b. Ladder Receiver:
WARNING: The ladder receiver is an essential component of the rooftop tent. Ensure that it is properly secured before using the Tent’s ladder.
- Attach the ladder receiver to the side of the tent, using the provided screws and bolts.
- Ensure that the ladder receiver is level and securely affixed to the tent frame.
3c. Pole Bases
WARNING: The pole bases are crucial for the stability of the tent frame. Ensure that the pole bases are attached properly before you use the Tent.
- Attach the pole bases to the corresponding sections of the tent frame, using the provided screws and bolts.
- Ensure that the pole bases are secure and that the tent frame is stable.
3d. Cross Bar Mount:
WARNING: The cross bar mount is an important component for attaching the Tent to your vehicle. Ensure that the cross bar mount is securely affixed before you mount the Tent.
- Attach the cross bar mount to the corresponding section of the tent frame, using the provided screws and bolts.
- Ensure that the cross bar mount is level and securely affixed to the tent frame.
4. Mounting your rooftop tent to your vehicle:
WARNING: Before mounting the Tent to your vehicle, ensure that the roof rack is properly installed and can support the weight of the Tent.
- Place the Tent onto the roof rack and center it.
- Attach the Tent to the roof rack using the provided nuts, bolts and brackets. Ensure that the Tent is securely affixed to the roof rack.
Note: We recommend that a minimum of two people mount the Tent onto the roof rack, for safety reasons.
5. Using your rooftop tent:
WARNING: Never exceed the maximum weight capacity of the Tent, which is 650 lbs, as indicated in the product manual.
- To open the Tent, unlock the latches and push the Tent upwards until it is fully open.
- To close the Tent, pull down on the straps of the Tent and secure the latches.
- Never leave children, pets or objects unattended to in the Tent.
- Do not use the Tent during extreme weather conditions such as heavy precipitation, strong winds or snowstorms.
6. Using your ladder:
WARNING: Always use the ladder provided by SquatchBox to enter or exit the Tent. Do not use a makeshift ladder or any other objects to access the Tent.
- Pull the ladder out and place it on the ground at a 45 degree angle.
- Ensure that the ladder is securely affixed to the ladder receiver on the Tent and that it is stable.
- Use the ladder carefully, using your hands and feet to maintain balance.
Note: the ladder is adjustable and can be extended or shortened to accommodate different vehicle heights and roof heights.
7. Closing the roof top tent:
WARNING: Before closing the Tent, ensure that all gear and personal belongings are properly stored and secured.
- Release the tension on the tent fabric by pressing the center of the roof and pulling the canvas towards the ladder.
- Once the tension has been released from the tent fabric, pull the ladder down and unhook it from the ladder receiver.
- Close the tent fabric by pulling down on the straps and securing the latches.
- Secure the closing buckle to the corresponding loop on the tent fabric.
Note: The tent fabric should be dry before closing it to prevent any damage or mold growth.
